Bed Resignified

An installation co-authored with Aleksandar Kecman

Here I am interrogating the most obvious object "Sleep Industrial Complex" coheres around - The Bed. Through my ethnographic work I came to understand it as an object of anxiety and pleasure, desire and fear. As an experiment I emptied my bedroom of a bed, and let if like that for a month. I would randomly populate it with objects and photograph it. The installation comprises of these photos, alongside a video where my "key interlocutor" reads a story "On The Importance of the Bed." The Bed here becomes Other through its absence, which opens up a space of reflection on sleeping otherwise via contemplating The Bed as embodiment of normative sleep.
